WineCraft (Note: This was a university project, not an actual client assignment, and this is conceptual and not a real brand.)
This project focused on creating an innovative packaging solution for a set of wine glasses. The challenge was to design packaging that could securely hold an uneven number of fragile items without using additional materials like tape or glue. The packaging had to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, incorporating sustainable materials and a simple yet effective branding approach. Additionally, the design had to include a protective sleeve for added security and an engaging unboxing experience. The overall goal was to create a practical, eco-friendly packaging solution that also reflected the elegance associated with wine glassware.
(This project was completed individually.)
The design process began with an exploration of existing packaging solutions for fragile items, focusing on innovative ways to secure wine glasses. Research included studying various structural design techniques and materials that could offer protection without compromising on aesthetics or sustainability. The concept was to create a packaging system that functioned like a book, opening horizontally to reveal the glasses inside. This approach not only provided easy access but also enhanced the unboxing experience. The use of only cardboard materials ensured that the packaging was eco-friendly and aligned with modern sustainability trends. The inner design included dividers to keep each glass secure, while the exterior featured minimalistic branding with a logo and a simple wine glass graphic, maintaining a sophisticated and elegant look.
The technical drawings provided a comprehensive view of the packaging design, detailing dimensions, materials, and assembly instructions. The drawings showcased the layout of the cardboard box, including the protective dividers to hold the wine glasses in place. Each aspect of the design, from the fold lines to the placement of the protective sleeve, was meticulously documented. The technical drawings ensured that the packaging could be replicated accurately, maintaining the structural integrity needed to protect the wine glasses during transport and storage.
The final visualizations and renderings brought the WineCraft packaging design to life, highlighting its functionality and elegance. The images depicted the packaging both closed and opened, showcasing how it securely held the wine glasses. The renderings illustrated the simple yet effective branding, with the logo and wine glass graphic creating a sophisticated look. The protective sleeve was shown in place, emphasizing its role in providing additional security for the fragile contents. These visualizations captured the essence of the design, demonstrating how the packaging met both practical and aesthetic goals.
